Ronnie Dee "Blonde Bomber" Dawson
August 11, 1939 ~ September 30, 2003
Another of our cherished legends is rockin’ his way right out of our land…
Ronnie leaves a happy memory now that he’s gone,
He’s left
something to let the whole world know,
That THE Rock 'n' Roll Daddy has done passed on,
Let his bones keep rockin' long after he’s gone,
There's still a lot of rhythm in his rockin' bones,
Bury him
six foot deep,
With a rock 'n' roll record at his feet,
A phonograph needle in his hand,
He’s gonna rock his way right out of this land,
Roll on
Ronnie, rock on, now bop, yeah rock on Ronnie,
There's still a lot of rhythm in his rockin' bones,
When he
dies don't bury him at all,
Just a-hang his bones upon the wall,
Beneath his bones let these words be seen:
"The running gears of a boppin' machine",
Roll on,
rock on Ronnie, yeah now bop, yeah rock on Ronnie,
There's still a lot of rhythm in his rockin' bones!
*(adapted from Ronnie Dee’s “Rockin’ Bones”, recorded in 1958)
Services for Ronnie are pending. But a memorial gathering will be held this Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Sons of Hermann Hall, 3414 Elm St. in Dallas.
You will be missed Ronnie Dee, but your legend will live on forever through your timeless rockin’ music and in our rock n’ roll hearts…
